Today I’m thankful that I was with my mother holding her hand when she took her final breath. (Dad had the other hand) It was sweet and peaceful. Shortly before she went, she opened her eyes and looked heavenward. It’s a moment I will always remember. It won’t be the same without her, but she’s in a far better place, and I will see her again one day.
I believe God prepared us all for the moment. I knew this morning, that she would be gone before the day was out. My daughter, who had been feeling ill in the mornings, since this weekend, woke around 9:45 with a complete sense of peace. Mom took her final breath at 9:45. For 4 or 5 days, all we’ve had is cold, damp weather, but today the sun is shining brightly. Once again I am in awe of God’s goodness.
