Points to Ponder

  • Both Emma and Luke dealt with tragedy, yet each handled it in a different way. When life gets tough for you, do you find you react more as an Emma or a Luke? Is one reaction better than the other?

  • Sadly, people like Emma’s mother are more prevalent in the church than I care to admit. What is your response to people who are convinced their way is the only way?  That they know God’s will for you better than you do?

  • Emma and her brother, Jimmy, have a close, albeit imperfect, relationship. How does the relationship between you and your siblings differ from Emma and Jimmy’s? How is it similar? How hard do you work to keep peace in the family? Are your motives and actions always the right ones?

  • What character(s) do you feel gave the best advice, and why? Would your advice have been similar?

  • Forgiveness is a key aspect of this book. How easy is it for you to forgive? Are you the type who needs the last word, or do you run to the Word? Do you use scripture as a weapon or a shield?
